Rem really that the behavior of the characters was more accurate and believable than many other movie characters, and that added a layer of realism that makes the movie even more creepy and scary. Jon felt that the cast seemed to hold their own and deliver capable performances. This is more horror than Sci-Fi, and if you’re a horror fan, you might be pleasantly surprised.
Ian found Event Horizon to be very predictable and not entertaining, it seemed to follow all the same old horror tropes. Jonathan really didn’t like the CGI, and found it somewhat took him out of the story. Rem thought the ship design was very questionable. The ship design went for more of a Gothic feel, (inspired by the Notre Dame Cathedral) which seems impractical when designing a space ship that is supposed to work in space.
Event Horizon is more a horror movie set in a Sci-Fi setting. It’ll be better if you’re a horror fan going in. If you don’t like horror and are disturbed by extremely graphic and horrific violence, then pass on Event Horizon and watch Solaris, you’ll get some of the same ideas with much less blood shed.
