Hosted by Rem, Ian and Jonathan
As Ian said, Galaxy Quest is a love letter to Sci-Fi and Star Trek in particular. While it’s certainly a Sci-Fi movie, even non Sci-Fi fans will enjoy it.
A film that stands up even after a decade after its release, Galaxy Quest pays homage, teases and pokes fun at not only the Sci-Fi genre, but also its fans. What really works here is that Galaxy Quest was clearly made my Sci-Fi fans, but can be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys a smart comedy.
This is a good film for young people too. Plenty of action with very little violence.
Galaxy Quest is a nice light treat. Rem likes his films a bit darker, but understands this is not that kind of film. Jonathan found a few inconsistencies in the film, but they’re small points that most people will miss.
Galaxy Quest is pure fun! Watch it with friends and the kids, and you might just make it a yearly tradition.
Galaxy Quest, a long since cancelled TV series has achieved a Star Trek like cult status. Its cast members “type Cast” into convention oblivion, get frustrated with each other and their lot in life. But when an Alien Race approaches the cast to save their race from destruction, they end up taking on their roles for real (while stumbling through every trope that Sci-fi has to offer) using their wits, charm, and acting talent to help defeat the Evil Alien warlord, Saris.
