“Spaceballs” has become a cult favorite among comedy and Sci-Fi fans for years. Mel Brooks takes his unique comedy style we saw in Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein and turned his focus to the Sci-Fi genre. The movie is packed with clever, fast paced humor and is a film that really needs a Star Wars fan to be appreciated. Rick Moranis was a real standout as ‘Dark Helmet Man’, an obvious homage to Darth Vader. Ian love the film and has since it was released. Jonathan and Rem nearly gave Ian heart failure when they the both admitted to having never seeing the film until the night before recording the Podcast.
Ian really loved the film. Jonathan and Rem…not so much. Neither are particular fans of parody movies, and really found the story dumb and dated. The appeal to Spaceballs seems to be Nostalgic in that many saw it years ago and still have fond memories of it. We wondered if an adult would enjoy Spaceballs if watched for the first time. What do you think?
Rem and Jonathan saw Spaceballs and really have no plan to ever watch it again. Ian loved and we’re sure many people also love it. If you like the parody style and you’re a Star Wars fan, you might want to give it a try.
