This week on The Sci-Fi Movie Podcast, Ian, Jonathan and Ian discuss what is universally considered the best of the Star Trek movie franchise: “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” from 1982 and directed by Nicholas Meyer.
This is the movie Ian and Jonathan have been waiting for since The Sci-Fi Movie Podcast first began. They both consider ‘Khan’ to be the best of the series and a nearly flawless blueprint for the perfect sequel. The Spock death scene is one of the favorite moments in the entire Star Trek movie series. Tim found the performances by Shatner, Nimoy and Kelley were beautifully played, and represented some of their best acting to date or since.
Jonathan couldn’t find a single flaw, and Ian believes the only problem with Star Trek II is that later movies in the series tried to best it, and not always successfully. Tim found a few small nitpicks, but nothing that really detracted from the enjoyment of the movie.
Tim, Jonathan and Ian all consider ‘Khan’ to be the best of the Star Trek of the series and absolutely essential Sci-Fi viewing.
